My thoughts on "Titwindows and boobsocks"

I think it's terrifying that Kate says that artists "must be held accountable".

That is straight out of every bloody fascist regime. Will she demand they be forced to repent for drawing women who are prettier than she is, that like having sex with men? Will there be executions for the likes of Frank Cho?

http://img13.deviantart.net/9b84/i/2016/140/b/b/i_play_to_win__gg__d_va_cosplay_by_miumoonlight-da35p96.png
I play to win! GG! D.Va Cosplay
1:57:15 There's two ways of looking at the boob-butt pose. a) it's physically possible - female cosplayers have demonstrated it. (Note: The cosplayer here is doing the 'boob-butt' pose that drives feminists berserk - that they claim is impossible for real women to do.)

Can't find the particular shots i was thinking of but you can see similar examples here

b) it's an example of how comics show human 'reality' rather than objective reality - our senses are not like cameras, we see the world by taking a chunk of time and working out what is happening from that - thus the camera shows a still but we see a variety of stills and create an illusion of motion - to depict that in a comic means you can't just replicate the camera's viewpoint.

A lot of good comic art from history is a composite in one frame of several distinct actions.

This was understood implicitly. Now everyone has cameras and expects the world to look exactly like cameras show it as being - which robs the art of dynamism. e.g. "Saga of the Super-Sons" image

The speech clearly takes farrrr longer than the motion of removing the poster. Several minutes are compressed in on panel to an instant of time.

Same story in this Batman and Robin pop-art piece.
Eadweard Muybridge was actually quite shocking, because for the first time he revealed that the camera could not and did not depict reality in the way the human visual system does.

See this Elk's motion below - it actually appears to be quite static. A 'realistic' depiction is thus robbing the image of information it needs for a human to see it as in motion.

https://gemmafinch.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/plate_695_elk_galloping.jpg

Kate Bush.

I see her, and my heart flutters, oh!

"Tits and dicks are not the same" - in fact that is exactly what feminists argue when it's convenient for them - and they want to say that breasts are asexual - then they argue the opposite when they claim that touching a breast is rape - which implies it is a sexual act.

You can't have it both ways.

In fact, why are feminists objecting to male depictions of women that show nipples - when feminists didn't wear bras deliberately because they didn't think nipples should be something to be ashamed of (i was there in the seventies and i actually kinda miss those times e.g. Kate Bush to the right).

Should we #HideTheNipple or #FreeTheNipple? They seem to want it both ways. Nipples must be exposed, but men can feel no joy from them?

I don't know, Feminists?

Why is it you cannot make your mind up about this question?
The answer is, of course - female sexuality good, male sexuality  - baaaaad!

NSFW: Why do Feminists hate sex?

"Comics fandom can’t scream that this medium is for adults and then cheer on Frank Cho’s sexist bullshit. Growing up means truly growing up." (source)
It's funny that Scott had no problem with suggestive artwork when it was used to help his career.

This cover is by Cho; check signature in lower right corner.

But hang on, Scott - art for adults - the people who are allowed to be sexual - is often sexual! Who knew!

Frank Cho loves a joke.
Feminists hate jokes -
that don't involve the suffering of men, of course.

Hulk costumes - how do they work?

This is a pretty good point, honestly!

Feminists are prudes
- but they can't deal with the women who are truly making them uncomfortable directly,
so they just attack the men who appreciate their efforts.

Drawings by Frank, pictured here with cosplayer,
whose photograph is from http://www.flickriver.com/photos/bellechere/sets/72157622540397225/
Feminists claim sexy pictures hurt women - they call it objectification. The idea is that male sexual desire converts women into objects - somehow - they don't question it, Listen and Believe, folks!

The male feminists are often riding to the protection of the womenfolk
- protecting them from the rapebeasts feminism has taught them that men are,
and dealing with their own shame at their desires by lashing out at other men.

This is traditionalist behaviour
- in fact, the irony is it's the exact opposite of what Feminists used to fight for.
So why do women love dressing up as these 'sexist' characters?

Could it be that non-Feminist women like being sexy?

That they aren't afraid of male lust (or female lust, Feminists don't seem to be aware that other women find that a turn on, too).

Erotic Art has always existed. It's a part of being human.

The thing is,
Feminism: "hard men are all rapists - so no cock for you, lass! We know what's best!"
lots of women enjoy male attention, don't have a problem with breasts, or male sexual desire- yet Feminism claims to represent all women. Why doesn't it represent these women?

Oh noes! He is oppressing her boobies! Won't somebody think of the boobies?

Notice that she is drawing how she finds women beautiful.

This would be condemned by feminists if it was done by a male.

You don’t like the FemThor, Goddess of Thunder, and all-round SJW?

Reply to http://lollylandgirl.tumblr.com/post/114443940948/i-got-it-you-dont-like-the-goddess-of-thunder

said:

I got it. You don’t like the Goddess of Thunder. You don’t like Thor (the new version of Thor). I’m sure you have your reasons. But I have my reasons to like it, too.

First of all, I’ve read Thor before. And liked the comics. Not the character, but that’s because I tend to like little assholes. Thor is not my kind of guy. But I’ve enjoyed his comics (mostly because of Loki being a real asshole or a semi-asshole. I mean, Loki being Loki. I like the bad Loki), so when I started reading this Thor, this wasn’t my first comic nor my first Thor comic.

What do I like? That I can relate to her. So many people have been worthy (even Drax, but maybe because that wasn’t the Mjölnir we know) at certain point, so why not a woman? A woman we still don’t know who she is- but she’s a pre-existing character. It’s not a character without name. And she even wasn’t “Thor” until he gave her the name. I like this. It reminds me of a Batwoman quote about that she realized that everyone could be under that mask, even herself. It’s the first time the God(dess) of Thunder could really be anyone.

She’s not a big, rude guy? Nope. (I’m not calling Odinson rude, okay? Don’t get me wrong). She’s a woman who can show everyone she can be at least as good as Odinson. She’s a flawed character (that doesn’t want to deny she’s a woman, who can fail, said stupid things, be funny) that doesn’t know what to do all the time. And that left us with a unworthy Odinson, without his characterystic power, who had started to grow in me.

I fell like the ones who don’t like her are represented in the comic by Odin. And he has a point. Like you all do. I’m not talking about the writing because I’m not that good at english.

And then… another thing. It’s not the best comic ever written. But if there’s people who like it, people who see themselves in the character, people who waits for the next comic because they really enjoy it, people who are inspired by it… how you dare to say it bad? I’ts new. It’s different. And low sales and cancelled titles don’t mean something is bad. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 got cancelled and if you’re telling me it’s bad I’m honestly questioning you. Even if Thor was bad… so what? I enjoy it. Maybe I’m just reading it for fun, because I like to see the possibilities of other Thor, because it’s another look to asgardians.

The last one: maybe this comic isn’t written for you. There are a lot of people out there that isn’t like you. I don’t like Moby Dick, but I’m not going to say it’s pure shit (even though I might think that). Because if you enjoy something… that’s enough. It’s good enough.

I say:

"I got it. You don’t like the Goddess of Thunder."

I might, if she had her own comic instead of taking ours away.

“You don’t like Thor (the new version of Thor).”

That doesn’t even make sense. If you become the President of the United States, you don’t get renamed George Washington, and the now ex-President doesn’t have a name change either.

Thor’s an actual man’s name. There’s many female versions - like Thora. Thor doesn’t make sense as a name even if there was no comic.

And Thor’s a deity from a living religion. This is the equivalent of deciding you will have a comic about the adventures of Mohammed - then making him a gay interior decorator.

it’s going to piss people off if you do that.

“I’m sure you have your reasons.”

Which you seem oblivious of.

“But I have my reasons to like it, too.”

I imagine it would be nice to be able to go into a theatre, point at the best seats and say “mine now”, and have the occupant thrown out.

It’s a vicious thing to do - but hey, if it makes you happy…

" Thor is not my kind of guy. "

So you took him away from his fans. Huh.

"What do I like? That I can relate to her."

she certainly is common, rather than being alien or Asgardian or a fish out of water on earth or… in any way… Thor.

“So many people have been worthy (even Drax, but maybe because that wasn’t the Mjölnir we know) at certain point, so why not a woman? “

i thought you said you had read Thor before? Other hammer bearers were female - they just weren’t called Thor, and Thor didn’t stop being thor. e.g. http://marvel.wikia.com/Jane_Foster_%28Earth-788%29

Thordis. Not Thor.

“A woman we still don’t know who she is- but she’s a pre-existing character.”

More of a trope, really. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MarySue

Does she have a personality? Seems like a generic SJW. I keep expecting her to sing “Cry me a river” while listening to the screams of men being burnt alive.

“It’s not a character without name. “

Glad we agree she’s not a character.

“And she even wasn’t “Thor” until he gave her the name. “

Because that’s how names work, amiright? So did you hear George Washington’s speech last night on the news? Very moving. I’m not sure how he’ll cope with being Obama again after the next election.

"It reminds me of a Batwoman quote about that she realized that everyone could be under that mask, even herself.”

You think the deity Thor… is… a mask. Uh huh. So tell me, what’s Jesus’ Secret Identity? Humble rat catcher by day, saviour of mankind at night?

“It’s the first time the God(dess) of Thunder could really be anyone.”

That might be a surprise to Beta Ray.

"She’s not a big, rude guy?"

No, she’s a fascist arsehole who breaks a guys jaw for having a difference in opinion.

"(I’m not calling Odinson rude, okay? Don’t get me wrong)"

LIAR!

“She’s a woman who can show everyone she can be at least as good as Odinson.”

You have an interesting interpretation of the word “good”.

“She’s a flawed character (that doesn’t want to deny she’s a woman, who can fail, said stupid things, be funny) that doesn’t know what to do all the time.”

Thor was flawed. She’s just an asshole.

“And that left us with a unworthy Odinson, without his characterystic power, who had started to grow in me.”

Can we not talk about your sexual fantasies?

"I fell like the ones who don’t like her are represented in the comic by Odin."

No, they are represent in Straw by the Absorbing Man. You know - who she beat effortlessly - and shattered his jaw for antifeminist opinions? Then she beat up his wife who didn’t fight back, because that wouldn’t be Feminist. Then she went on to dash the babies skulls against the stone - but they were male babies, so the SJWs all Jazz-handed themselves into a frenzy.

“And he has a point. Like you all do.”

Unless he does a Linkara, burns the comic, and yells “this comic SUCKS”, then he’s not making it clear enough.

“I’m not talking about the writing because I’m not that good at english."

Yeah, it doesn’t get any better if you can read English, trust me.

"It’s not the best comic ever written."

I don’t think you quite grasp just how true that is.

Here’s the best thing ever written.

Now go look outside at the most distant star. If you were to travel to that star, and look further beyond out to yet another star more distant, and so on, and so on, until there were no more stars and time itself was burning out then still you would not have gone far enough away to place this comic.

“But if there’s people who like it, people who see themselves in the character, people who waits for the next comic because they really enjoy it, people who are inspired by it… how you dare to say it bad?”

Because it took away what was good, and replaced it with the comic equivalent of “Two girls one cup”. You know, there’s an audience for that too; maybe you should try it out if you want to stretch yourself next time.

“I’ts new. It’s different.” It’s Ebola! Now with more oozing!

“And low sales and cancelled titles don’t mean something is bad.”

It’s usually a hint. Capitalism is very good at weeding things out that don’t meet the muster.

“Even if Thor was bad… so what? I enjoy it.”

So if there was some show you liked, we could just replace that with a show about something you hated… because we’d enjoy it and fuck you?

“Maybe I’m just reading it for fun, because I like to see the possibilities of other Thor, because it’s another look to asgardians.”

She doesn’t do Asgardian, she does SJW.

"The last one: maybe this comic isn’t written for you."

Exactly. Marvel took a comic written for us, and decided to write it for SJWs, despite the fact they have pissed all over comics ever since the days of the Comics Code Authority.

AND THAT MEANS THEY ARE GOING TO CRASH.

Because even if you buy the comics - we bought the comics AND the merch and WATCHED THE MOVIES OVER AND OVER AND BOUGHT MORE MERCH AND SPENT AND SPENT AND SPENT..

And all that income stream goes (*poof*) when you replace us as your demo.

“There are a lot of people out there that isn’t like you.”

Who could have read their own comics - WE WEREN’T STOPPING THEM.

“I don’t like Moby Dick, but I’m not going to say it’s pure shit”

YOU JUST DID THE EQUIVALENT OF TAKING MOBY DICK OFF THE SHELVES AND REPLACING IT WITH “THE SCUM MANIFESTO”.

" It’s good enough."

Nah, on second thoughts; don’t watch “Two girls one cup”, it’s a little too highbrow for your tastes.

Salon calls everyone who disagrees with Femthor "angry baby fanboys" who "wet their diapers"

Response to "

The new Gamergate: Angry white men are trying to shut down diverse comics

"The new Gamergate"

The old one's still right here?

"Angry white men "

down with white people! It's not racist if we do it!

"trying to shut down"

No, trying to have the comic they had for decades before you lot ripped it from us - go make your own you lazy sods!

"the misogynist trolls"

You don't know what troll means, do you?

by Alien EntitySeptember 22, 2002

Stop trying to redefine everything to suit yourself! You managed to murder the word literally, must you mangle this as well?

"Right-wing parasites"

Ah, ad hominem - what is this, Tumblr?

"misogynist Men’s Rights activists"

Because wanting men and women to have equal treatment under the law is such an expression of hate.

And you know - I know you hate to face it but - a lot of us aren't male - like erin Pizzey - you know, the woman who started domestic violence shelters for women - and had her life threatened by feminists when she tried to do it for men as well?

"the culture war within the video game community continues to lose steam "

wishful thinking - just how many times are you going to declare gamers dead? The thing about gamers - we have a lot of extra lives.

" the conservative heroes of the anti-feminist movement "

Ah, so anyone who isn't left wing must be antifeminist? Look, I'm left wing - but I want you to persuade others of that - because you would be doing the biggest recruitment drive in history for our cause.

Carry on!

"the so-called social justice warriors"

They call themselves that - you aren't even trying now, are you?

"they’ll gladly suck the life out of any geek culture they find "

Sweetie, we ARE geek culture.

"Comic books are in the midst of a bit of a renaissance"

Pfft! The movies - with mostly male protagonists - are doing really well. Superhero comics? Nope. The porny stuff the schoolgirls read? Doing great guns! I noticed feminist have no problem with that. It's not porn if girls like it!

"the comic book medium itself is working toward sustained survival through diversity"

No, it's being taken over and is going down the toilet as a result.

"Black heroes, Latino heroes, Muslim heroes, women heroes — the new face of comics"

Black heroes have been around for decades - how the hell do you claim credit for them? How does that even work?

Latino heroes? Do you have any idea how long Zorro comics have been around? And who inspired Batman, huh? Sheesh.

As for Muslim heroes, no, there's not a lot, but that could be because Muslims are killing cartoonists.

As for women heroes - you know, someone should invent one - with Wonderful powers... some sort of Wonder Woman, perhaps...

"the new face of comics don’t only appeal to the aging, primarily-white male comic book base"

I look forward to the demographic data supporting your assertion - oh wait, facts and logic are antifeminist - sorry, I forgot.

" these leeches care not about the art of comic books "

YOU. BANNED. COMIC. ART.

Have you forgotten already? Batgirl? Joker? Nothing? No recognition in those glazed eyes, no change in that vapid expression?

"Milo has outright shown pure disdain for the gaming community "

He was reacting to information given to him BY YOUR OWN PROPAGANDA PIECE, KOTAKU.

Do you not see the circularity of your logic?

"Their complaint is that the new Thor’s dialogue is bad"

Yes. She's breaking the fourth wall and doesn't talk like an asgardian. She talks directly to an audience of feminists, thus rapidly disenchanting readers who were interested in the novelty.

THOR IS NOT DEADPOOL.

"Thor punches a creep for “saying feminist like it’s a four-letter word.”"

Yes. Breaks his jaw. Because he doesn't like feminists. Thus representing your fascist ideology to a T. Then his wife beats him up for not loving Feminism and allows herself to be beaten up for not loving Feminism enough.

And that's your idea of how a Thor story should go. That is your idea of a tale of heroism.

 YOU SUCK!

"The dialogue is bad compared to what? Male Thor’s long history of cringeworthy lines?"

So you have one example. From the 1960s. Where mostly the dialogue was bad across the board and no-one cared?

That is your idea of evidence. This is the standard Salon now sets?

"In a correction tucked away at the bottom of the page, Yiannopoulos explains that no, the new Spider-Man Miles Morales is, in fact, not bisexual, as he claimed in his post — he is biracial"

You don't even have the decency to quote his words.

"Editor’s Note: a previous version of this article suggested that the incarnation of Spider-Man known as Miles Morales was bisexual, half-black and half-latino. In fact he is not bisexual. He is half-black and half-latino. We regret the error.

Besides.. looks like a lot of people got that impression. From the comments I see about the new spiderman movie, looks like even the current actor for spiderman had that impression.

"Miles Morales (Earth-81648)"

http://comicbook.com/blog/2013/07/10/andrew-garfield-suggests-making-spider-man-gay/

Garfield said, "I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better—we’d have interracial bisexuality!"

Entertainment Weekly also points out that this was not just something that just came up in their interview, but Andrew Garfield has discussed the idea with Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb. Webb said, "Michael B. Jordan, I know."

Tell me again how stupid someone would have to be to think Miles was bi?

"The new Thor’s numbers hold strong"

Err... no.

http://brettcaton.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/feminists-claim-femthor-is-triumph.html

"the new Thor series finds itself consistently in the top 10 comic sales each month"

Thor was one of Marvel's heaviest hitters - and now is falling down that list...

"The most recent issue, the one with the feminist dialogue that caused mass hysteria online among the right wingers, saw no drop in sales from the issue before it."

You realise people bought it for the lulz? We think it's hysterical. It's like a re-write of Star Wars where Luke turns out to have been a woman and Darth and the Emperor cut their own heads off rather than fight her.

You have achieved a form of greatness, it's true.

"Compared to some other changes in comic books in recent times though, the negative reaction has been muted."

Huh. So that's your equivalent to people urinating themselves and being infantile. Apathy.

What about reddit, that bastion of antifeminist thought?

http://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/2vzagx/putting_the_sidekick_in_the_suit_black_captain/

And while the female Thor hasn't been fully embraced by everyone [on this subreddit in particular] I have to say that Sam Wilson as Captain America feels . . . right. It's as natural a progression as when Bucky donned the stars and stripes, and Remender is using it to really explore who Wilson is as a character.

Ok, the rest of this article seems to be a strawman about imaginary "right-wingers", which, as a techno-communist who has never voted right wing in all his long years, I find hysterically funny.

Oh wait..

"Many whom the right wing would call “social justice warriors”"

SJWs? Again, they call themselves that; you really are an imbecile.

For example:

"found the cover to be disturbing"

Yes, they agonised about an option cover that they could only have if they bought it deliberately, rather than the default cover.

Pressure was applied. The artwork was censored. Feminists burnt books everywhere in celebration.

"Working against them, however, was the fact that some of these SJWs taking up arms against the cover were actually the writers for the Batgirl series themselves."

“ they only have themselves to blame”

SJWs won, that Joker cover is being removed fuck everything
thespectacularspider-girl:
Oh fuck anyone and everyone who supported #changethecover.  This is the fucking artist’s response:
My Batgirl variant cover artwork was designed to pay homage to a comic that I really admire, and I know is a favorite of many readers. ‘The Killing Joke’ is part of Batgirl’s canon and artistically, I couldn’t avoid portraying the traumatic relationship between Barbara Gordon and the Joker.

For me, it was just a creepy cover that brought up something from the character’s past that I was able to interpret artistically. But it has become clear, that for others, it touched a very important nerve. I respect these opinions and, despite whether the discussion is right or wrong, no opinion should be discredited.

My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art. For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled. I’m incredibly pleased that DC Comics is listening to my concerns and will not be publishing the cover art in June as previously announced.
With all due respect,
Rafa
Seriously, fuck you guys.  If you had a shred of artistic decency, if you ever loved the Batman books, you’d have supported this because this was a beautiful homage to the dark backstory that actually made Babs a fucking good character.

You assholes are trying to whitewash the events that created one of the most iconic differently abled heroes in comic books.  How the fuck is that not ableist?

feministslayer: FUCK.

egalitarianqueen: NO THAT WAS A COOL ASS COVER!

firstofficerdani:

Wow, guys. Are we really to the point where we’re saying “fuck you” to fellow fans? Do the people who were disturbed by these images really lack any “shred of artistic decency”? Have they never “loved the Batman books”? Because really, I think that ultimatum is bullshit.

The claim that anyone who supported #changethecover is just unfounded. People were never trying to undermine the fact that Barbara Gordon needed a wheelchair. That’s not what the cover was about & that’s not what #changethecover is about. The cover is reminiscent of a time where a person was physically mangled and sexually assaulted. This is depicting a woman and her ABUSER. I think people have the right to be deeply disturbed.

Do I believe the artist ever intended to harm anyone? No. Does this mean people aren’t justified in being disturbed by the image & calling out its connection to rape culture? Also no. The artist CHOSE to respect the view of a group of people who were harmed though he never intended to do so. He has put away with bigotry and yet people claim this is censorship!? Save the image to your goddamn phone phone or computer if you love it so much but don’t insult and belittle people who were disturbed by an image that was meant to be disturbing.

Show respect for other fans like they deserve and sure as hell don’t say Barbara Gordon was only ever an interesting character because of her trauma. She was interesting before, during, and after “The Killing Joke”.

Yes, she overcame a horrible incident which made her all the more strong. “The Killing Joke” allowed Barbara to develop more as a character but she was always a resilient woman who fought to ensure the safety of a city before her own. Don’t demean that woman or the opinions and well being of fellow comic readers. Enjoy your bigotry and have a nice day.

“Seriously, fuck you guys.  If you had a shred of artistic decency, if you ever loved the Batman books, you’d have supported this because this was a beautiful homage to the dark backstory that actually made Babs a fucking good character.”

shut the fuck up.

like alright dani covered most of the bases lol but if you think trauma is the only thing that can make a good character obviously you’re not a fan of babs. dark backstoress are tragic and can be a good place for character growth, but if woman being physically assaulted to the extent babs was is the only place you’re finding women to be good characters then you either have incredibly low standards for writing or should look into why you love rape culture so much. because when you say beautiful homage, it’s a real life insult to people who have suffered this trauma. there’s nothing beautiful about what babs went through.

“You assholes are trying to whitewash the events that created one of the most iconic differently abled heroes in comic books.  How the fuck is that not ableist?”

do you even know what the fuck whitewash means? or do u have like a hat full of “sjw words” that you just draw from? it’s not ableist because no one is trying to deny babs history as oracle, as a wheel chaired name taking badass. what #changethecover is about is to be aware of the trauma and how insensitive it could be. babs being one of the coolest (of the few tbh dc get on that) disabled heroes ever, shouldn’t have to always draw back to the killing joke. it should draw back to the arcs that she spent as oracle, as a human overcoming that trauma and becoming stronger.

“NO THAT WAS A COOL ASS COVER!”

and finally if you think violence (real violence!!) against women is “a cool ass cover” fuck off.

this isn’t like a ‘sjw ruin everything’ its saying this is inappropriate. its rightfully called out. the killing joke is an incredibly dark story. everyone has the right to say ‘no this is unacceptable’ right now. and i mean ofc the urls are feministslayer and egalitarianqueen so like fuck that lolthespectacularspider-girl:

Hey, moron.  Its a variant cover.  Meaning you can buy the version WITHOUT that on it.  Eveyone who doesn’t like it doesn’t have to buy it and could get to still read the story.

Guess what?  Not every character gets over being shot.  Not everyone does that.  She has a flaw, she has a fear, and you guys apparently can’t grasp that.  Heaven forbid she be scared of an absolute fucking monster like Joker, who she has personal history with.  Right?

Its a fucking insult to the character to try and whitewash her backstory like this shit didn’t happen.
Also fucking lol.  Accusing a rape survivor of enjoying rape culture.  Seriously, take your fucking buzzwords elsewhere, princess.

This was a piece of art meant to make you uncomfortable.  It was meant to be dark, it was meant to be unsettling because that is part of Joker’s character and it was best defined by The Killing Joke.

But hey, we’re not the ones pulling down OPTIONAL art we don’t like because somebody might be offended.  We’re not the ones censoring.  Newsflash, cupcake, you’re part of the reason why companies don’t want to take a risk with female characters anymore.

Because you people will bitch when a female character is put in a similar situation as a male character.  Heaven fucking forbid a character be scared, right?

I bet you didn’t object to the varient cover for RHatO that featured Joker beating Jason Todd to death with a crowbar, right?  Where were you then?  How about you stop fucking infantalizing women because, frankly, we’re fucking stronger than that and I would much rather have female characters who we can depict in positions of pain, suffering and torment just like we do male characters.

But hey, I want actual fucking artistic expression and equality.  You?  You don’t.

michaelpoe:

To be fair… No one objecting to Jason Todd being beaten to death with a crow bar is practically a running joke all on its own, with that old ‘Call in to save Robin’ promotion they did during death in the family.

Though I have to wonder how many more internet drama fits involving Barbra Gordon DC will put up with before they just give up and brand her a ‘toxic character’ like the previous two batgirls.

korblabyss:

The cover was changed because some shit heads who care more about their precious no girls club nerd space sent death threats to people who thought the cover was inappropriate for any of a number of reasons, such as being triggering for some fans, being out of tone on one of the few DC comics appropriate for young teens, the deprotagonization of a female hero, or any of a number of other reasons (I only just heard about this today, so that’s just the reasons off the top of my head).

Again, this is nerd bro douchebags ruining things for themselves because they are fucking stupid enough to think “more fans=bad,” they only have themselves to blame.

“The cover was changed because some shit heads who care more about their precious no girls club nerd space

Really? That’s terrible. There were credible threats! From people! And we know their motivations! And I’ll be able to find about the police assessment of this from that link.

No?

No. All I see is a response claiming that some other people self-reported threats. No mention of the police.

You have no idea if the threats existed, let alone who made them if they did, let alone the motivations of the makers.

This is no more credible that a neo-nazi site claiming the terror of death threats from blacks and jews that they will not let anyone see.

Lanker-Simons allegedly made an anonymous rape threat against herself in a post on the UW Crushes Facebook page, and then lied about it to authorities.

“ being triggering for some fans“

We do not take away the freedoms from the mentally healthy out of fear the insane may find them frightening. Self-diagnosed mental illness is rubbish anyway; someone who is that ill should be in therapy, on meds, and off the internet.

You do not have the right to say I cannot eat pork because pork is forbidden to you.

You do not have the right to say I cannot have sex because sex is disgusting to you.

If you do not want to see my art - do not look. No-one is making you.

Instead, you believe you have a moral authority to decide what art can be allowed to even exist.

“ being out of tone on one of the few DC comics appropriate for young teens“

Bullshit. Young teens read horror stories and watch horror movies. That cover is nothing to them. They are not as feeble as you imagine. They do not need your protection.

Or will you be monitoring the school curriculums? Making sure they don’t have any books of devastation - no “War of the Worlds”, no “1984″ - in their library, in case some young reader might open it’s covers?

“the deprotagonization of a female hero”

Being hurt, crippled or killed doesn’t remove you from being a protagonist, you low-grade moron.

Adversity is something a hero faces. What do you want? The stories of Ms Beige Cube and her Perfectly Safe Existence?

I want more than that.
